How - Calcium Carbide Meter

Speedy meter and accessories - I don’t use the carbide meter often, as the readings it produces are not usually relevant to the job at hand. The fabric is usually wet or not, knowing exactly how wet it is usually of little material relevance.

Using the drill to take a 6g sample, this is added to the carbide chamber with reagent – calcium carbide, this is shaken to mix the sample with the reagent. If there is any moisture in the sample, this will cause the reagent to produce acetylene gas and in doing so, increase the pressure in the chamber – this is shown as a gram reading on the gauge.
