Insurance

I act for both Loss Adjusters and individuals/businesses advising on loss and remedial works. These instructions generally entail reviewing documentation and the timeline of events to date, undertaking a site inspection, preparing a report detailing my findings and recommendations and liaising with loss adjusters, individuals, businesses, contractors and other professionals.

Examples of some of the insurance-related instructions I have undertaken over the last year or so:

  • Inspecting (including high-level drone inspection), preparing Schedules of Condition, Heritage Design and Access Statements and advising on repairs to 4 semi-detached Grade II Listed timber-framed houses and a street of traditional Grade II terrace houses following damage caused by a sink hole - Hampstead, London.

  • Inspecting and advising a claimant on the appropriate way to repair flood damage in their 200+ year old cottage - Sheffield.

  • Reviewing contractor's proposals, inspecting and preparing a Schedule of Works for several flood-damaged houses on the same street - Chesterfield.

  • Reviewing documents and researching damage to defend a claim relating to repairs and betterment of a defective culvert - Nr. Harrogate.

  • Reviewing contractor's proposals, inspecting and reporting on flood damage and consequential loss in a development of 6 flats - Bradford

  • Reviewing contractor's proposals, inspecting and reporting on lower ground floor flood damage for an incorrectly converted basement - Bradford.

  • Reviewing contractor's proposals, inspecting and reporting on flood damage and consequential loss in a development of 100+ student rooms/cluster flats in a converted Grade II Listed church - Sheffield.

  • Undertaking a roof condition inspection and commenting on damage to the roof following a storm - Grimsby.

  • Reviewing documentation, inspection and report writing for a moisture-related claim - Keighley.

As an individual or business, the fees associated with appointing an independent surveyor to act on your behalf are sometimes covered by your policy, we recommend you check this as soon as possible following the loss (we cannot provide insurance policy-related advice as this requires separate regulation).

I predominantly undertake insurance-related work across the north of England, however, I do undertake work further afield if necessary.

If you would like to contact me to discuss your loss and if/how I may be able to help you, please do email me at surveying@simonhollis.com or call me on 07947 255 270.

Insurance work is based on an hourly rate of one hundred and twenty-five pounds plus half rate for travel time and mileage at sixty-five pence per mile from S11 7GH.
