Sheffield Historic Buildings Trust

Writer's picture: Simon HollisSimon Hollis

Another productive meeting of the Sheffield Historic Buildings Trust earlier this week.

Progress is being made on reaching Charitable Trust status and defining roles within the committee. Once charitable status has been achieved, we can begin work on obtaining grant funding to help secure the repairs, maintenance and future of some of Sheffield's historic buildings at risk.

Our work with Sheffield City Council is also paying off as the site we are working on jointly with the South Yorkshire Industrial Heritage Society at Bower Springs is now largely clear of vegetation and debris which has allowed us to gain a better understanding of the remains of the cementation furnaces which is informing the proposals we are preparing for submission to Historic England for Scheduled Ancient Monument Consent.

If you would like to hear about our progress, or, get involved, head over to the Sheffield Historic Buildings Trust page @sheffield_hbt.
