How - SDS Drill and Bits

Makita DHR263ZJ 36v SDS drill and Hilti SDS Plus TE CX drill bits. There really isn't much that this can't get through.

I use this mainly for making holes in walls for the inspection camera or taking samples for Calcium Carbide testing.

With the chisel bit (not pictured), it can also be used for chiselling up floors and removing render.

Below is a photo of the Hilti bits in action taking a masonry sample for Calcium Carbide testing. With good quality bits and a powerful drill, less force needs to be used to push the drill into the wall which generates less friction and heat and so provides a more accurate sample. Ramming a weak drill into the wall with a blunt bit will generate more friction and is likely to dry the sample out therefore providing an inaccurate reading.
